Sutra Dance Theatre’s newest Odissi production for 2025 is themed on Radha, the passionate and cherished beloved of the pastoral god Krishna. Radha embodies hladini shakti, the essence of Joy and Happiness within the essential spirit and Maya of Krishna. The ecstatic love between the enigmatic Radha, the chosen gopi, and the rather ‘incorrigible’ but irresistible Krishna, has sparked inexhaustible medieval literature. Radha demands absolute devotion from her lover Krishna, whose attention is easily distracted by the adoration lavished on him by other Gopis. Radha represents the individual soul who feels incomplete if separated from the source of its energy and raison d’etre – the Universal Spirit Incarnate, who is Krishna himself.

This spellbinding work explores the timeless love story of Radha and Krishna — a journey through longing, devotion, separation, and joyous reunion, mirroring the soul’s quest for union with the universal spirit.
Drawing inspiration from the vibrant folk traditions of Radha Prema Leela and the intricate classical art of Patachitra, Radhe Radhe is a luminous collaboration between Sutra Foundation and Tridhara (India), helmed by the celebrated Guru Gajendra Panda. The production promises an unforgettable evening of rhythm, grace, and storytelling, steeped in India’s rich cultural heritage.
This October, art meets compassion as Sai Ananda Foundation Malaysia (SAFM) proudly sponsors the premiere performances on 11th and 12th October 2025. More than a celebration of dance, these shows form part of a heartfelt fundraising initiative, with all proceeds channeled towards SAFM’s community programmes in Educare, Medicare, and Sociocare — services offered entirely free of charge to those in need.
